The Name
Zona Pugna Exitium, or Zugnaex for short, is Latin for the Battle Zone of Doom. Also known as Doom Battle Zone.
It's the classic DOOM® game with a different multiplayer experience. Players battle across zones in DOOM®.
The Story
Zugnaex is a very powerful demon. If you say its name correctly, every single little tiny syllable, you will summon the demon and bring forth the apocalypse. But Zugnaex has never faced a foe like you. Only you & your friends can defeat the demon Zugnaex & save humanity!
Battle online with your friends and overcome different challenges to ultimately face the demon itself.
The Code
Some of it was written by me. Most of it was written by you. You can use all of it to make something amazing yourself!
AI Usage
Generative AI is not used at runtime for any purpose.
We released this mod in the summer of 2022 with 2 battle modes. We started using generative AI for development in late 2023. It was used to create 2 key art images (a logo/icon and a title screen). We are planning to replace these images. It was used to create some promotional text for the product. We'll never do that again. It was used as reference to help solve complex technical questions while developing the software. The AI tools used were ChatGPT, Google Search, and Bing Image Creator. Anything AI generated was refactored, reviewed and redone by a human being (me).
This mod was not created by generative AI. It was created by human beings (you and me).

Install instructions
To setup the game:
- Unzip zugnaex.zip into a folder like C:\Games\Zugnaex.
- Run zugnaex.exe.
- Select the Folders tab and hit the plus (+) button to add the folder where you have DOOM® installed.
- Select the Play tab to play a single player game or the Battle tab to play an online battle.
